More about this programme: www.bbc.co.uk Hans Rosling’s famous lectures combine enormous quantities of public data with a sport’s commentator’s style to reveal the story of the world’s past, present and future development. Now he explores stats in a way he has never done before – using augmented reality animation. In this spectacular section of ‘The Joy of Stats’ he tells the story of the world in 200 countries over 200 years using 120000 numbers – in just four minutes. Plotting life expectancy against income for every country since 1810, Hans shows how the world we live in is radically different from the world most of us imagine.

The racial differences in? I.Q.’s have a LOT to do with it.
To prove the Global? Health conspiracy theory? that Rich? are Healthy? & Live Longer?? while Poor are Sick & Die? Younger, accurate? census data is needed to get the ratio of health related deaths?? to other causes of? deaths by age? and? income.
In 2010 about 6,500,000,000? people?? were alive and 57,000,000 died. As a minimum we need their age, income, and cause of? death. 171,000,000 numbers are needed for one year alone.
Professor Rosling, if this were a thesis, you would fail miserably.
@vilameat This should simplify things. Rosling’s 120,000 numbers is a lie.

Wow statistics is complicated?
@ulganen Rosling’s 120,000 numbers is a lie so do not draw conclusions from it.

the statistic is great, except for the scale: the differences between the poor and the? rich countries are softened in the graph through not scaling the wealth scale propartionally, the increase between the 4000-40000 period would have to be far more steep.
Apart from that, it was really informative.

Rosling’s 120,000 numbers is undeniable fraud.
He is only forgetting to mention that these assumptions about the conditions of people in poor countries are measured “after” colonization, which had a devastating impact on the health of these populations. The Amazon rainforest has hunter gather communities living in perfect? health conditions, low if any stress (except for the dangers imposed by invaders w expanding capitalism), leisure, sociability, etc. The post colonial order doesn’t provide sound data, this is a very dangerous assumption.

Smart students would question Rosling’s 120,000 numbers and demand? their money back.
